WICKS & TABS
For safety reasons, all of
our wicks are tabbed with a "long neck" (excluding votive wicks) which means that they will not burn all the
way down to the bottom of your container; they will leave approximately
1/4-1/8" of wax.
Important Note:
The burn rate is the
amount of wax consumed per hour (in grams). Burn rates are based on testing
performed with straight paraffin wax with no other additives. Certain types
of waxes including low-shrink "One Fill" container waxes, Vegetable waxes
and Candle Gel may require larger sizes than the charts suggest. The wick
size suggestions in the chart below are only estimates and are provided as a
general guideline or starting point. Your results will vary greatly
depending on brand, type and melt point of wax, additives, fragrance, dye,
container shape & size, burning conditions, etc.
*We can only offer recommendations as to wick sizes and
applications, but we cannot guarantee any certain wick to work in a certain
application because of too many variables involved. The only way to
determine the appropriate wick selection is by experimentation. Test
burning will be necessary to determine the best wick for your candles!

Heinz
Coreless German CD Wicks:
Highly

Zinc-core wicks - Pre-waxed & pre-tabbed:
Wax primed, pre-cut and tabbed with 20mm round, 6mm neck tabs
(unless otherwise noted).
This wick has a cotton outer braid surrounding a thin filament of zinc. Zinc
cored wick produces the coolest burning flame and offers the most rigidity of
all cored wick, providing support during pouring and burning.
HTP Coreless Cotton Wicks:
Pre-cut and wax primed with 212°F coating, tabbed with 20mm round, 6mm neck
tabs.
These are flat braided cotton wicks with thin paper fibers intertwined. The
result is a cleaner burning, self-trimming wick with additional structural
strength, controlled curling and a hotter, more efficient flame. Combined
with a high melt coating, they are a great alternative in hard-to-burn
applications. Flat braided wicks are designed to bend at the tip when burning,
forcing the tip of the wick into the outer portion of the flame where it burns
the hottest. This causes more complete combustion, leaving less carbon
(mushroom) behind and less smoking!

Flat Braid Wicks - Raw, un-cut, un-waxed spooled
wick:
Flat Braid (Ply) Wick has a decorative appearance and is commonly
used in dipped or molded free standing candles such as tapers and pillars. This
wick is designed to bend slightly when burned allowing for an even burn and a
reduction of carbon (mushrooming) at the tip. |
